Engine cranks, but will not start

Hi,

Yes, what you are saying is correct. The PCM does nothing more than provide a ground path to complete the circuit and actuate the injectors one at a time. Once the key is turned on to the run or start position, power should be present at the injectors waiting for the PCM to complete the circuit.

By the PCM providing the ground path, it can control which injector actuates and how long it stays open to keep the air/fuel ratio where it needs to be based on input from other sensors such as the oxygen sensors, temperature sensor, and so on.
