New issue with the CRV. All I want to do is crank it over a few times with the starter to see if it stays in time. I have the cover on, but the cam and crank sensors are not in or even connected. The motor mount is not in, but I grounded the engine to the frame but there's no crank. I don't hear the fuel pump cycle. All dash lights come on and there's no immobilizer key light. It's supposed to come on and then go off. The master key doesn't work for some reason in the driver's door. I don't think it's an antitheft issue. Does the wiring being connected to the sensors have anything to do with completing the circuit? Fuses are ok. Help? What happened?

I reattached the motor mount and ground wire and it cranked. Timing marks stayed in place. When the cam marks are straight across from each other the harmonic balancer TDC mark is slightly off the pointer on the cover as well as the arrow on the crank gear with its mark. Probably a little stretch in the chain. I have to stop doubting myself and just do what I know. Thanks for your assistance. I will probably still want to hear this fire before I replace the chain. Will only put it together far enough for that. At least I'm on track again.

Hi,

Thanks for the update. It does sound like you are on the right track. Do me a favor, if it cranks and doesn't start, record it cranking for me to hear.

Let me know.

Take care,

Joe

Well, it didn't fire. It sounds like it's turning over too slow. There is fuel at the rail under good pressure. I don't know the psi because there's no Schrader valve. I haven't checked spark or compression yet.

Update: I kept my foot on the floor while cranking and it ran and sounded good. Got to do the crank seal, chain seems okay.

Hi,

The battery does sound weak. If you got it to start by pressing the pedal to the floor, it sounds like it was flooded. When you do that, it should shut the injectors down to clear flooding.

Also, since you did get it to start, we know the timing, compression, and ignition is working. Does it seem to be running correctly now?

Let me know,

Joe

It runs like a top. Peculiar issue with the driver's door lock. Neither the key nor the remote fob opens the driver's door. The key will open the passenger door but the remote won't. The remote will only lock the doors from inside. Any ideas? I'm thinking the driver's door lock was changed. The fob flashes the lights like it's supposed to but doesn't do anything. Battery tests 3.25v.

Hi,

I have a favor to ask. Could you start a new post specific to the fob issue? We try to keep these specific to one topic so that it is helpful to others. I hope you understand.

Just copy and paste your new question to a new post.

Here is the link:

Again, I hope you understand. Your new issue could be a few things, so we need to dig in a bit. Since it won't unlock with the fob or key, I'm questioning a linkage issue.

Take care,

Joe
