Taking off from stop sign, half way thru intersection there was "klunk, pop" sound and no more movement. Tried switching gears(it shifted fine)but when letting pedal out it started to bog down to where it would have died if didn't push clutch in. On side of road, engine running in neutral, push pedal in, put in first, start letting clutch out car won't move, engine almost dies from bogging down. Engine off, trany in gear, neutral safety switch bypassed, turn key, engine tries to turn over, car doesn't move at all, acts like it's locked up. Put in neutral, starts normally.

Hi,

This sounds like the clutch has just failed. When you put it in gear and try to start the engine and it doesn't start but does in neutral again, sounds like the clutch is not fully disengaging the clutch.

Here are some guides that will give you more detail on this but I think a complete clutch replacement will get you squared away. I would suggest replacing all of the parts including the flywheel, clutch disc, bearings, and slave cylinder. There is no point in going in there and not replacing all of it because if not and one of these parts fails then you will need to go back in and do it again. So you should just replace them all one time.
