A whining occurred every time I stepped on clutch pedal. Drove around block whining got worse. Tested the whining by pressing down clutch and revving gas. Whining got worse and engine stopped. Now will not start and clutch feels tougher to push down.

Good morning.

It sounds like the throwout bearing in the clutch has failed. It is common for making noise when it fails. The transmission has to be removed and the clutch inspected for the failure. There is a collar the throwout bearing rides on that needs to be checked for wear as well.

Can you try and put the transmission in neutral will it start?

Cheers, Ken
