I was told by the Service Manager at my dealership that since I hadn't changed the fluids, filter, flushed, etc every 30,000 miles that to do it now would actually shorten the life of the transmission. I asked him twice and he repeated it.
This sort of defies common sense. Is it true? Why?

Hi there,

I have been in this industry for over 36 years, and as far as I am concerned that that is a load of rubbish!
Older transmission by the nature of the beast will tend to fail if neglected, but a service will not shorten the live of your transmission, if anything a service may pick up on a problem that if left could do damage, so get it serviced by a transmission specialist.
