I am hearing a low pitched whine when I turn the wheel from a stop or a very slow speed. I am unsure if this related to the cold weather. My husband has checked power steering fluid levels and those seem to be fine.

Hi:
Chances are the sound is from the power steering pump. When the engine is at an idle, the pump is spinning slowly. I wouldn't be too concerned about it if it's not too loud. The pump may just have a little wear and the noise shouldn't hurt anything.

If I'm correct and it is the pump, don't replace it with an aftermarket pump from a parts store. I have heard too many stories about them making all kinds of noise. If at some point in the future you do need to replace it, get one from Chrysler.

If you have any other questions, let me know.

Joe
