2002 Chevy Truck dimming lights

My lights will dim every once and a while and the interior lights also dim at the same time. The only the different that I have noticed is that the volt meter is running well above 14volts compared to what I am used to seeing it run at. Would you have any suggestions on what could be going on?At this time the truck is running fine but I do not want to wait for some thing major to happen before I do anything.

That is the opposite of what I would expect. IF it is overcharging, I would expect things to be brighter. What I need you to do is take the truck to a nationally recognized parts store and have them check the alternator. Let me know what you find.
