My console shift broke. I t just moves up and down freely. The transmission is stuck in revererse. Is there a way to shift the tranny to neutral, to get it started, and then to drive, so I can get it to the shop?

Hi bafent002, Welcome to 2carpros and TY for the donation

Investigate the shift linkage something could have broke off that could be fix on the spot otherwise you have to manually engage the transmission

Check if you can do it thru the floor console if not you gonna have to go underneath-do this with a helper. Think! Safety First

It's a steering column shifter. There is a cable linkage that goes through the floor, then to a flipper thing on the outside of the tranny. Is that where I shift? I tried to move it by hand but didn't put a wrench to it.
