Remove the no.1 sparkplug and have helper crank engine in bursts while you feel for compression as the piston goes up-stop and turn it manually till the piston is at its highest point and the markings at the crankshaft damper line up 0/TDC. Open up the distributor verify that the rotor is pointing to no.1 tower at the cap. If not the valve timing is off-
