2005 Chevy Trailblazer gas gauge

Ive been having problems with my fuel gauge staying on the e line and some times the gauge jumps to the quarter tank line and then when I stop fall back down to e what do u think it is

The first thing I would check would be for a bad ground. Make sure the tank is well grounded. If that is good, the next check would be the float rheostat. It is in the tank and part of the fuel pump.
