2006 Chevy Trailblazer fuel gauge

2006 Chevy Trailblazer 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 78000k miles

Last week on a road trip we came close to running out of fuel - gauge down in the red but the low fuel light had not come on. Got to a garage and filled the tank up. The service engine soon light came on and the gauge did not show full - in fact it showed empty. Over the next couple of days the gauge would slowly come up to half full or so then go back down to empty. The service engin soon light went out. Then it just seemed to start working again. At about a quarter full we refilled the tank again and the gauge again read empty. Suggestions?

Our 06trailblazer is doing the same thing. The check engine light is on and the fuel gauge is reading empty with a full tank of gas.

Sounds like a faulty sending unit problem. What codes are in the computer?

Well I am having the same problem and my dad seems to think that it is my fuel level sensor ( floater)

Just different terminology, that is exactly what a fuel sending unit is.
