Ran my 2002 2500 chevy out of gas. Kept trying to start it. Put gas in and will crank over but won't start or stay on. Stays on for 5 secs only. Replaced fuel filter and nothing.

Hello,

When a vehicle runs out of fuel, many times the fuel pump picks up debris which can clog the system.
Changing the fuel pump is a good first step. However you might have a clog in the fuel pump in the tank.
You might have to drop the fuel tank and get the fuel pump module out and visually inspect and clean any debris that might be stuck.
You will need to change the fuel pump screen that attaches to the bottom of the pump, as it is likely will have debris stuck to it.
