Engine Will Not Start

Hi, I have a 2001 silverado 4.3L v6, I have a no start condition. We have replaced everything in this truck, as far a sensors, fuel pump, ignition everything dist. Also the ignition switch and key lock cylinder, my question is did I activate the security,


Back in march the truck died, come to find out that it was the fuel pump, but we listened to other people and changed everything in this truck and I feel that we messed up the security, (passkey) the anti theft sensors on the ignition switch. What to think?

Is it cranking over and will not start or just won't crank over at all/nothing when you turn key to cranking position

The motor just cranks, and it drains the bsttery, also the pcm never flashed security, however the service soon light is always on, (and at one time we replaced the pcm with another we purchased from a recycler and after we hooked it up the security light in that pcm did come on and did not flash, so we took that one back out and put the original one back in, I have been reading about the pass key and the antitheft sensor on top of the ignition switch help.

Also I have been reading about people cutting the yellow wire and the orang/black wire on top of the ignition cylinder and putting a 2200 ohm resistor between the two and the engine starts, is this feasable, at this time I will try anything

Is it possible to change this 4.3lv6 from my silverado with a 4.3lv6 from a 1999 chevy s-10. Will the pcm from the s-10 work with my silverado

I believe that was a post I made. That will bypass the Passlock sensor only. That will only help if the ignition switch is the problem and the rest of the security system is working properly. Since you don't have a security light flashing, that isn't going to help you.

You can't approach it this way. You need a Tech2 scan tool or equivalent to be able to diagnose this problem. Swapping PCMs around is dangerous business for both the PCM and the truck.

This truck was my fathers work truck, the company he was working for supplied the truck, then he got a new one and bought this one from the company, it is a base generic truck v6, no power anything, hand crank windows, no electric door locks nothing, just base. I called the dealer withthe vin # and they told me the truck does have security the vin# 1GCEC14W01Z203856, do you think we should another motor in instead of driving ourselves crazy, note: the dealer is no help at all.

I have no idea what is wrong with your truck and neither do you because it hasn't been tested properly. Changing a motor will do absolutely nothing for an operating system problem but you don't even know if that is what you have.
