May want to consider the pump do you hear it run when key is turned? If no pressure see if relay is good then no pump sound then need to replace.

Do you have a check engine light on? Do you have a scanner for OBDI? If yes hook up see what codes are present. If no when engine shuts down check for spark if no spark and no fuel remove ignition module from dist. Take to Autro Zone have it tested.

SOUNDS AS IF THE PUMP IS SHUTTING OFF. IS IT STILL RUNNING WHEN THE FUEL STOPS? IF NOT, PROBLEM IS MOST LIKELY ELECTRICAL.

No it is not supposed to get hot. Where relay plugs in can you find a Orange wire and a Gray wire. Take a wire jump between the two does it keep running? If yes replace relay.

Think pump is drawing to many amps and heats up relay and it drops out. Check the ground for pump clean connection. Do you have a amp meter?
