Fuel Problem

I have just gotten a 1993 Chevy S-10 and the said that the fuel pump went out or so he thought so he put a new on in but did not change the sending unit and it still won't start any ideas of what it could be.

Do you hear the fuel pump come on for 2secs when you turn key to run-if so Check the fuel pressure if its within specs if okay check if the injector/s are pulsing

No I don't hear the pump kick on when I tested the fuel pump to see if it was getting twelve volts it was only getting eight so I ran a twelve volt switch from the battery to the pump and it still didn't kick on

Okay I hooked the ground wire in a different place and the pump kicks on but the truck still won't start any sugeastions if so they will be greatly appriciated.
