Engine Mechanical problem
1986 Chevy S-10 6 cyl Automatic

My car quit starting I replaced the fuel pump still not starting.

I put a couple of drops of gas in the carb. It trys to start, until gas is consumed.

Is there a fuel sensor "where"
Is there a fuse to the starter "where"

What do you suggest I try

OK, It sounds like you don't need to worry about anything concerning the starter, since the vehicle turns over.

Now, question. Is the vehicle fuel injected? Have you check the fuel pressure? You said about putting gas in the carb and it tries to start. Try spraying starting fluid into the carb while starting if it will run that way then check the following.

If it is fuel injected - Have you check the fuel pressure? If so have someone try starting it while you look to see if the injector is spraying. If not it could be a bad injector.

If it is Carborated try taping on the float housing it may be a stuck float.

Another question - when was the last time the fuel filter was changed.
