Engine Mechanical problem
1978 Other Chevrolet Models V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 84k miles

Having a problem with starting after car sits for a few days. Engine will crank but not start for several minutes. It appears to be fuel related as there is no fuel in fuel bowl. It has a Rochester 2-Jet carb that was purchased re-built 2 years ago from Kragens. Car has had 2 fuel pumps installed, the most recent a Summit performance mechanical fuel pump about 1 month ago. Fuel appears to be either draining back to pump or evaporating. Engine is a 305 V-8 and has good compression and runs fine once it starts. I have another vehicle that sits for as much as a month and fires right up with minimal cranking. This is very frustrating, hope someone can help with problem.

Check fuel filter there should be a gray check valve in the end next to line. If not fuel will siphone out.
If not remove carb on the bottom you will see two silver plugs if wet fuel leaks out into manifold. Mr. Gasket made a simple plug but maynot any more could try JB Weld.
Good luck
