Cruise control not working

Both A/C & Cruise Control turn off & on whenever they feel like it.
Once in a while, car will die while stopped @ idle, but starts rite up.
Tested w/key ON, eng NOT running.
My Wife said pushing the key in seemed to work once, altho it didn't work for me.

1) A/C

Seems to work more often in morns(when weather is cool), and not so much in the heat of the day when we need it. Sometimes I think it's teasing us!

When NOT working;

NO voltage to PCM (CRANK), CRUISE, A/C/CRUISE, A/C FAN, & STR COL fuses in driver's side fuse box.
"Clicking" somewhere on driver's side under the hood, stops after a minute or so.

When WORKING;

All driver's side fuses (EXCEPT STR COL) have voltage, & all A/C dash switches work.
No noticable "clicking" under hood.

I've checked/done;
Lite "smacking" on fuse box has no effect.
A/C fuse in pass side fuse box is good.
A/C fuse under the hood is good.
I've wiggled the wire loom under the hood in several places w/NO change.

2) Cruise Control;
Dash lite turns on/off whenever it feels like it.
Even w/lite ON, sometimes it still will not work.

I've violently (when gently didn't work) wiggled, tugged, twisted, & tapped the switch, w/no results.

But I did NOT climb under the dash to wiggle the plug in.
I'll try that.

I couldn't get my hand up to the back of the switch, but I did try poking it w/a stick.
No change.

So, I guess it's internal, & I should change the key switch?

If so, how the heck do I get to it?

Is there a way to "jump" the switch before taking apart or working on the dash?
I have NO problems w/even alligator clips, for testing.

(I REALLY miss my '63 Galaxy, '65 Impala, & my '68 Dart GTS!)

My switch is on the dashboard, not the column. Makes it a LOT easier on me.

Do you have a link to a free online electrical schematic I could use to figure out the wiring to the key plug in and driver side fuse box?
I've spent hours & hours tryin' to find one w/no result.

I'll temporarily "hard-wire" (w/an extra fuse of course) my A/C, while waiting for my new switch and cd factory repair manual. I live way out in the Mojave Desert, so theft isn't a problem, heat IS.

Autozone wants near $100 JUST for the switch!

Now I'm thinkin' a PERMANENT jump wire following your instructions.

I'll run the batt volt input from switch's plug, to a fuse & toggle, & back to the switch's existing A/C wire.

Will that power up the PCM (CRANK), CRUISE, A/C/CRUISE, A/C FAN, & STR COL also, or are those all different wires requiring their own jumper?

If they're different wires, can you send a link to a color coded schematic?

Saved my pennies & FINALLY bought the stock switch 'bout a week ago.
You were absolutely RIGHT-THANK YOU!
R&R was easier than I expected, due to your instructions.

AC & cruise problems went away.
Sun was shinin', crows flyin", snakes chasin' mice, ALL WAS WELL in the universe.

Drove to Phx to visit my Grandaughter, 'bout 450 miles w/no troubles, then my engine started "stumbling", dying at stops & sometimes even while driving 'round 30mph. Starts right back up. She (Impala) runs smooth when below operating temp. Also runs smooth (far as I can tell), at 65-70mph.

Could the starter switch have affected the evap system, similar to the AC & cruise? Should I tear apart my dash again to reinstall the old switch for testing?

Trouble codes PO102 (MAF or VAF A circuit low input) and PO443 (EVAP Emission Control system Purge Valve C fault).

Engine Devices fuse under hood is good.

MAF- w/key on, has volt & ground, checked w/test lite. I did have to replace the connector 'bout 6 months ago using wire nuts, (hands not steady 'nuff for soldering anymore).

Purge solenoid- w/key on, the purge solenoid connector has voltage (I can't find ANY scoop on how to check ground input coming from the ECM). While using jumpers from the battery to the purge solenoid, I can suck fumes (ARRGH!) Thru it. W/no volt applied, it is sealed.

Can you PLEASE HELP ME w/this new problem?
