Well I'm parked on a hill my car wont start. I had it face down on a hill when my timing was set. Got it started and it ran for a while in park. I pulled out when it started for a few feet and it did Ok I pulled backwards in the driveway it was fine but when I went to drive up the street soon as I hit the gas it shut off on me. It would start back up, but when I hit the gas it went nowhere. It shut right back off, it would start back up but still. Soon as I hit the gas it shut off, I had to pushed it back to my driveway now its facing upward on the hill and now it wont crank over (just sounds like as if the starter wont crank) but its not the starter just had it replaced with a new one, just said that as a example. So now it wont start and I have no clue on what to do. Can someone help me?

There could be several reasons why your 1991 Chevy Caprice is not starting, even after replacing the spark plugs, fuel filter, fuel pump, and charging the battery. Here are a few possibilities you could consider:

Ignition System: Check the ignition coil, distributor cap, and rotor for any signs of damage or wear. A faulty ignition component could prevent the spark plugs from firing properly.

Fuel Delivery: Although you replaced the fuel filter and fuel pump, there may still be an issue with fuel delivery. Check the fuel lines for any clogs or leaks, and ensure that fuel is reaching the engine.

Ignition Timing: Incorrect ignition timing can cause starting issues. If the timing is off, the spark plugs may not fire at the right time. Consider having the ignition timing checked and adjusted if necessary.

Engine Sensors: Faulty engine sensors, such as the crankshaft position sensor or the camshaft position sensor, can prevent the engine from starting. These sensors provide important information for proper fuel and ignition timing.

Electrical Connections: Make sure all the electrical connections related to the ignition system and fuel system are secure. Loose or corroded connections can disrupt the flow of electricity or fuel.

Starter Motor: A faulty starter motor can prevent the engine from cranking. Listen for any clicking sounds when you turn the key to start the car. If you hear a click but the engine doesn't turn over, it could indicate a problem with the starter motor.

just purchased a 1991 Chev Caprice. The owner drove it here.I test drove it and it ran good. Turned it off. When I tried to start it in the morning it would not start. Charged the battery. It has a device that you can start the car with. Put new batteries in. Inside the car was a buzzing noise. The car still will not run. What could the problem be

What do you mean, "Has a device you can use to start the car with"? Does the engine turn over, but not start? Or when you turn the key, does nothing happen? And finally, are the rest of your electrical accessories working?

I'll need to know this information before I can attempt to help you. To try without it, I would have to cover waaay too many areas.

Dunno what you did here-but verify valve and ignition timing put engine no.1 piston on its compression/TDC line the markings at the crank pulley TDC-open up the dist. Cap and look if the rotor is pointing to the no.1 cap tower. If not its out of time.

My 1991 Chwvy caprice runs fine and starts fine almost all the time, BUT after it has rained for a while and it is wet the car cranks but won't start. If you let it sit till it has stopped raining the car starts and runs like nothing is wrong. Help

Dose it attempt to fire? Need to determine if fuel or ignition. Next time it happens spray some carb cleaner in throttle body. If it fires then fuel system
Also check for spark pull plug wire see if it arcs to block. Let me know and will advise.

After it happened this rainy morning, I popped the hood and noticed that the conection between the air intake and the air filter was loose. I put in starter spray blocked the valve at the connection to the crankcase open ang the car fired up. Ran all day started seceral times as if nothings wrong. Go figure

Yes, it starts now irrelevant of the weather. Apparently I have some relay problem that only occassionaly prevents the gas from priming the engine, since the starter fluid got the car going. Does that make sense?

More likely the loose air intake if air gets to throttle body without going past temp sensor and vortex the fuel will not be richened for cool damp conditions.

Let do below for a start to determine if its fuel or spark related issue and get back asap.

Get a helper disconnect a sparkplug wire or 2 and ground it to the engine -have helper crank engine over-do you have a snapping blue spark? If so-you have a fuel related problem, check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel filter/fuel pump/pressure regulator and listen to the injector/s are they pulsing or hook up a noid light. No snapping blue spark continue to troubleshoot the ignition system-power input to the coil/coil packs, coil's resistances, distributor pick-up coil, ignition control module, cam and crank sensors and computer Note: If it doesn't apply disregard it

When I park my car on an uphill incline it does not want to start when I get back in it whereas when it is on a level or downhill slope it starts normally. Is it the fuel pump or filter?
