I'm going to be replacing the fuel pump on my camaro. Are there ant tricks or pitfalls to watch out for when I drop the tank? Any advice from someone who's done this before would be helpful. Thanks

Just make sure everything is disconnected from the tank before removing the straps. Once the straps are removed, slowly lower the tank till you gain access to the fuel lines connected to the pump. Disconnect the lines and you got it. It's also wise to replace the fuel filter too when replacing the pump. Good luck

I heard you need to remove the axle to drop the tank. Is this correct? It looks like there'd be room to drop it without having to remove axle/suspension parts. I would like to get it all the way out so I could give it a good cleaning out. Hope you can let me know. Thanks

Yes, the rear end has to lowered out of the way to get the tank out. Remove the filler lid and bezel from around the filler tube. Disconnect shocks while rear end is supportd by a jack. Lower rear end, remove springs, panhard bar, locator bar and all tin work. Remove exhaust from the back of the cat to tailpipes in one piece, it will come out that way. Unhook fuel lines at body and unstrap tank. Be careful, you have to move the tank around to get it out.
