Hello Tom,

At work right now, but I did take the 1 and 2 spark plug out and they where wet a little. The spark was blue on some and orange on the others. What does that mean?

You are going to have to get the distributor loose in order to remove it and replace the pick up coil.

Sometimes if you take a long punch, you hit down on the flat part where the holder is located, it will shock the base loose and allow you to turn it and lift it out.

It will take patience but you need to get it out.

Hi,
The blue spark is a good hot spark and the orange is a weaker spark. Okay, so you have wet plugs meaning raw fuel done there and they is a good chance the are fouling out, you need to get them dried out.

Hi,

I'm really of the feeling that the carburetor is messing up and the float probably stuck open tapping it most likely will free it up or the choke stopped working maybe the wire fell off and its closed. Although that doesn't get to the leak at the carburetor. Either way what I've done for a quick check of fuel or spark being the issue is spraying a little starting fluid in the carburetor or if in the air cleaner a little longer of a spray. It should get some ignition if the spark is okay then it will stall out right away if it's a fuel issue unless it is the float that stuck and tapping freed it up. To over come the flooding thing on that first start push the gas pedal to the floor and don't let it up until it actually starts. Hopefully after it cranks a few it will catch and a big cloud might come out the back but then should be normal after that. A good carburetor cleaning is probably in order if it starts. Can you maybe upload a pic of the carburetor with the air cleaner housing off it showing the spot where the fuel leaked.
Thanks.
Keep us posted,
Tom

I went ahead and took the whole distributor out and ordered a new distributor is coming with the electronic components as well. My question is, once I put that in I know I might have to find top dead center and after I do that is there anything else that I need to know that should give me spark or stop me from getting spark?

Okay, did you mark the way the distributor came out?

You need to mark the position of the rotor and the vacuum advance.

Let me know when you are ready to install it. Then we can go over how to set it.

Okay, good. You do not have a vacuum advance since you have CCC.

Let me know when you are ready.

If it is, it is incorrect.

I attached the correct one from Rock auto. It does not have the vacuum advance.

Hey Roy,

The new distributor from Rock Auto came in. I tried to mimic the marks from the old distributor to the new one just to get in the ballpark I hope. But, I'm ready whenever you are.

So I got the distributor in and got it at top dead center I believe because I got the piston at the number one spark plug with the rotor point at the number one spark plug and I still got no fire still not starting. I mean do you think my timing belt went out? My timing chain I was told my timing chain probably went out it probably jump timing and my timing out. Any thoughts?

Hello,

Your car has a chain and it would be very rare for it to jump a tooth. Earlier you said that your spark wasn't blue meaning the timing was working to some extent the ignition coil could be part of the weak spark and when under compression it could become worse. To none. Testing the coil for leakage is on order you should have infinite ohms from the coil ignition wire (The one that goes to the distributor) to either one of the other terminals positive and negative and you should very few ohms across positive and negative. You can bench test the coil without removing it. If you take the coil output wire connect it to a plug directly make sure the housing of the plug is held onto the block or a good ground and run a lead to the negative battery terminal and the positive side touch the positive battery terminal another wire with a quick hit you will generate a spark if the color isn't blue the coil is weak if there is no spark the coil is bad. Give that a try and let us now the condition of the spark.
