Car shaking and check engine light is on

When I press the gas is not moving like it should and I can smell gas inside. And my check engine light is on.

Okay. This sounds like a misfire. However, the check engine light being on is a good thing. We need to check for what the codes are and that can help us figure out what the issue is.

If you cannot pull codes then I would suggest stopping by a parts store as most will pull them free of charge.

As I said, I think this is a misfire but the codes will tell us which cylinder or if it is another issue.
