Car shuts off sometimes after putting it in drive

I have the car in the shop as when I put it in drive sometimes it quits. The electrical goes out. They plugged it into the computer but no error codes came up. And of course it wouldn’t die for them. I’m going to leave the car here for a couple more hours so they can check out different electrical connections. Pretty frustrating especially when the mechanic can’t find the problem. Wonder what the problem is?

No, a scan will not tell them anything. They need to do good old fashion diagnostics.

Codes tell you areas of failure, not parts failure.

Fixed for free! After leaving it with them for 4 hours, they phoned me and said they are sure they found and fixed the problem. It was a couple of ground wires dirty and corroded. So they took them off, cleaned them up, putt them back on and said "we're not going to charge you." All I can say is PTL!
