I have to turn the engine quite a few times before it starts. Once it starts it runs fine. I had the fuel pump replaced but that was not the problem. What else could be the problem?

You will need a helper for this.

Stick your head by the fuel tank and have your helper turn the key to the ON position, but dont try to start it.
You should hear the fuel pump come on for 3-5 seconds to prime the fuel system.

If you don't then probably the relay is bad.

With repeated attempts of starting, the engine has cranked enough to build oil pressure.
And the secondary circuit in the oil pressure switch is powering the fuel pump.

Good luck
