My car is overheating. The water pump went out so I replaced it, then replaced the thermostat. Radiator has a small leak in it, but the car is overheating even when there's plenty of water in it, I fill it up every time I leave home and always carry at least 2 gallons of water with me every where I go. Fan still turns. I was told to grab it and see if it stopped, being if the fan motor was bad then the fan would stop. I'm not brave/stupid enough to try this.

Not sure who told you that, those fans will cut your finger off in a heart beat even the plastic ones.

If the fan is coming on then the fan motor is working fine. Feel the radiator hoses while engine is running to see if you can feel coolant flowing good. There could be a clog in the system such as in the radiator that is blocking proper coolant flow.
