From day one of purchasing my neon something has either been replaced or fixed. It vibrated very badly so my dad who knows a bit about vehicles said to replace the motor mounts. So we did and it no longer vibrates. Well just looking under the hood I noticed a line that had been cut. I followed both ends and it was connected to my master cylinder. I asked my dad about it and he said it was my brake booster. I asked him if it was dangerous and he said not as long as your brakes meaning shoes calipers lines etc, are good. Well after 2 radiators later a valve cover gasket change, spark plug and wires changed, front brake pads changed twice driver side caliper replaced once and numerous tire replacements my brakes completely fail and I ended up hit. I think it's the master cylinder or rear driver side wheel cylinder because it has been losing fluid to where I am adding more every other day and as I was changing my rear driver side tire I noticed the drum brakes were soaked in what I only knew to be brake fluid. I of course told my boyfriend about it and he dismissed the issue and seems to think my brakes failed because 2 days prior to this incident I changed my front driver side rotor, caliper, pads, and bled them by myself. He thinks I did something wrong. However I didn't randomly decide to change all that out for fun I did so because my brakes were squealing really bad and it sounded like a terrible grinding noise when trying to stop which was delayed to say the least. Upon changing everything I discovered my rotor was severely cut into from the brake shoes which were almost non existent and the caliper bushings were torn and in bad shape, thus the reasoning of changing all of that. So my question is, am I just a dumb girl who messed up somewhere when replacing my front brake system or could I have done that correctly and the cause of my brake failure be due to whatever was soaking my rear drum brakes in fluid like the cut brake booster or a leak in the master cylinder causing complete failure?

Hello, I'm Danny.

If you noticed the fluid leaking/contaminating the rear brakes then it's more likely the wheel cylinder is leaking therefore losing all brake fluid and pressure in the system. Here is a tutorial showing what is involved for its replacement:

As far as your cut lines or anything missing if you can use your phone to upload a photo here we can help you determine what it is.Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.

I have to go to the tow company in the morning and I will. But I am almost 100% my brake booster or the MC when out in it.
