Either you need a rear end or check with performance shops and see if you can find a kit to convert the systems.

You can take the rear brake assemblies off of similar body styled neons, but you will not notice an increase in performance. While drum brakes in general are less efficient then disk brakes they only about 30% of the stopping power of the vehicle. It is closer to 20% for the neon. Also, the drum breaks are lighter in comparison, so it is more efficient to have the drum brakes on this car. If you are doing this for looks or need to have them changed and have some sitting around, it will work. For more detailed information check neons. Org. It is a website for neon enthusiasts and about every combination you can think of has been done.
