2001 BMW 325 shakes when accelerating

I have a BMWxi wagon and yesterday I noticed it shakes and vibrates when I accelerate. When I let off the gas, it goes away. It's not so much the steering wheel that vibrates but the whole car. I got new tires about 2 months ago and it's been running great. The allignment of the car seems to be good as well. Could it be the axel or U-joints? I'm hoping it's not my transmission because it's shifting fine. Please help!

Noises and vibrations can be difficult to diagnose from cyberspace. The description seems to indicate the place to start would most likely be a safety inspection to determine if the wheels are bent or loose and to have the drive line inspected for possible damage. Do you have a mechanic in mind?
