My tempature guage was not working at all and the tempature light started to come on. I'm not sure if the car was overheating or not when the light came on. When I checked the water level it was slightly below the mark. I finally decided to add some water to bring it up to the mark. It took about a pint or so to do this. Now the tempature gauge started to work and so far the light didn't come on. Is the tempature gauge part of the board that has the batteries and if this board needs replaced can you do it without taking off the steering wheel? Thanks, Don

E30 You can get the cluster out after the steering wheel comes off. The temp and gas gauges both need to have their mounting fasteners tightened to stop the fluctuations. Replacement of the SI board will be needed if the batteries are leaking.
