The blower motor in my van just went out. A few months ago it was giving me troubles, I found the resistor harness was burnt up. I changed the plug, and the resistor and it worked fine for a few days, then I lost all speeds but high. Then today it just stopped working all together. The plug has a good connection, and I replaced the resistor just to be safe, it didn't help. So I changed the motor, it started working for a few seconds on all speeds then quit again. The relay is grounding out like it should but I'm not getting power to the motor, or anything at the resistor.

Good afternoon,

I attached the wiring diagram for you of the blower motor system.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-wiring

Do you have a test light or voltmeter to do some checks?

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-use-a-test-light-circuit-tester

The resistor and harness burned up the first time from the blower motor drawing too much current. You should have replaced the blower and resistor at the same time.

Check the fuses for power on both sides with the key on.

I do have a volt meter, fuse is good, and if I had the money at the time when it first went out I would have.

Okay, you need to get or borrow from someone a test light so we can do some checks. The fuse is not a visual test, it is a power test to be sure power is at the fuse.

Let me know when you have the test light and we can continue. You can get one for under $10.00 at a parts store.

Okay, check the 2 fuses for power on both sides in the first diagram I sent you.

The one in the dash has power through. I can't check the one in the engine bay, but it does have power on one side and the fuse has continuity.

Okay, go to the relay. Check for power on the red/dark green and the black/orange wire with the key on.

86 is positive, 85 is ground, 87 is ground that connects to 30 ground. I have continuity from 87 to 30 when relay is on.

Okay, 86 is good. 30 should have power as that is the load side of the relay.

30 is fed by the 50 amp fuse in the fuse box. If the fuse is and you have power on both sides, then you have a harness issue between the fuse box and pin 30 on the relay.

I always thought Dodge used their relays to break ground, not positive.
