I have a 1972 MGB. The electric fuel is in the trunk mounted above the gas tank. The pump was making a clicking sound, which kept getting louder and louder, and their was no gas getting to the carb when I pulled the gas line off. I replaced the fuel pump and it started and ran and then the clicking came back. It pulled the line from the fuel pump to the gas tank, blew into it and it seemed initially clogged, then I felt the air bubble into the tank and the pump started working again. Is there a filter in the tank that is getting clogged and blowing into it temporarily releaves the clog? The fule filter is at the pump but I wonder if there is another one in the tank itself. Any thoughts?

I don't have the listing for this vintage, but MOST cars do have a screen in the tank pick-up.

Tank has no filter there is one in the pump look for a hexhead nut in the lower part of pump by the inlet and outlet. Uncsrew this you will find a screen filter see if it is cloged. If the tank will to be removed, if it looks like rust in screen you may need a new tank.
