A/C blower not working, power door locks keep locking/unlocking intermittently on their own

The van has been sitting in the garage for a year now, but I run the engine at least two times a month, but the battery got discharged eventually.

Yesterday, I put in a new battery and without any problem the engine started with just one click.

I turned the switches to check their condition. The power windows, power side mirrors, rear vent windows, radio, windshield wipers are all okay; but the A/C blower, rear wiper and washer are not working.

The power door locks keep on locking and unlocking intermittently by itself.

The A/C blower fuse and relay are okay.

Update on this issue:

I remember that I removed the park light relay before because the park lights stay lit even when the switch is off. I found out too that when I put the park light relay back in, the blower works but only when the park light relay is in.

The blower relay is intact, but won't run the blower when the park light relay is not inserted in the terminal.

Please advise.

Thanks.

This sounds like two separate problems we will handle the blower and wiper operation problems on this thread please start a new question for the "The power door locks keep on locking and unlocking intermittently by itself."

We need to check for power at fuse # 3, 40 amp and fuse #9, 30 amp in the power distribution center. Here is a guide to help you and the blower wiring diagrams to help you see how the blower is powered. Here are the fuse location as well.

Check out the diagrams (below). Let us know what happens and please upload pictures or videos of the problem.

Hi Ken,

Thanks a lot for this reply.

Yes, I will write a separate question for the "power door locks" issue.
I will work on the blower and wiper problem ASAP as per your advice.

I will keep you posted on any development.

Many thanks again!

Take care.

Hi Ken,

Here are my findings:

-All fuses have power.
-Blower works only when Park Lamp fuse is in, with A/C button and vent button blinking.
-No parking lights.
-Interior lights stay on the whole time, turn off only when Dashboard illumination is switched off; Driver and Passenger reading lights remain on too, and TURN OFF only when Dashboard illumination switch is turned on.
-Power door locks don't work on the door switches, but only with remote keyless entry.

Please advise.

Thanks a lot.

It is starting to sound like the BCM is out. To be sure, let's do a CAN scan to confirm the failure. Check out this guide and video, here is how you can change the BCM out.

Check out the diagrams (below). Let us know what happens and please upload pictures or videos of the problem.

Hi Ken,

Sorry for this delayed update. I pulled out the BCM and ordered a replacement.

Unfortunately, it looks like I was defrauded by the "company" I ordered it from. I'm sorry if I share this frustrating experience on this thread, it's just my hope that this could warn anybody on this forum to stay away from getting hoodwinked by this fraudulent company, "FLAGSHIP 1".

The company looked legit, and the reviews are 4-5 stars. Their website claims that delivery is 2-7 days.

I ordered the BCM last July 1. The I received a tracking number#, and proof of purchase. I tracked the status daily since July 5 at USPS, but it only shows "label created, item on the way to USPS". I just patiently waited, then I received an email from them on July 12 (11 days post order date), casually saying that the BCM is still being programmed, and that they'll just update me in the "next few business days".

Finally I did a thorough research on this company and found out on BBB that there is a high volume of complaints about FLAGSHIP 1. Yesterday (July 14) I submitted a complaint at BBB against this company.

Today I received an email from them, just telling me the same bs that the BCM is still in the "programming process we'll update you in the next few business days".

I would highly appreciate any help or support from anyone in the US (I'm from Vancouver BC) who could provide me with info re US based consumer protection agencies who can assist me to at least get a refund from this company.

Re my van, it's still sitting at the driveway.

Thanks.

I am sorry to hear that, I am not sure where to get a replacement except a wrecking yard? Also did you run the CAN scan to confirm it was bad?

I did multiple times but I'm not sure if my obd2 scanner can't or failed to detect if there's an issue or problem with the BCM. I just decided to replace it based on the apparent classic symptoms of a failing BCM.

Update.

I got the BCM replacement and had it installed. All the problems: door lock actuators, front and rear wipers/washers, and A/C blower are all now working normally.

The only issue now is the park lights. It won't turn on. The park lights fuses and relay are okay, but when I remove the park light relay, the A/C blower won't work.

Please advise.

Thanks.

Glad you got the main issue solved, did this new problem pop up right after the PCM replacement?

Actually, it was one of the issues before the BCM was replaced.

The difference is, with the old problem, the park lights won't turn off, and the only way to turn it off is to remove its relay, but the A/C blower won't work.

The issue now is, the park lights won't turn on, but the A/C is working fine, but only if the park light relay is in.

It sounds like the BCM may not be programmed correctly or needs an update.

Is there a way around to fix it, say, hotwire the relay?

Not really, the BCM is part of the CAN (controller area network) and needs to be working. I am not sure how to bypass it if it is even possible.
