I used your guide to check diagnostic codes via the diagnostic box on passenger side under hood, jumper wire (TE1 to T1). The Check Engine Light doesn't stop blinking. What does that mean? I checked codes because the car sat for a year or two, it would turn over but never catch. I used jump wire B+ to Fp and it started to catch, so I figured it was the relay, maybe fuel filter too? I pulled plugs, they look good (a little black, but not wet), pour a little gas in each cylinder before putting plugs back in. Turned key & it just turns over, doesn't make any sound like it's going to catch (start). I don't know which or what to do next! I expected it to catch! Am I even on the right track?

Hi,

If it isn't showing a code, but instead constantly flashing, chances are there are no codes.

As far as the no-start, how old is the fuel in the tank? How much fuel did you put into each cylinder? If it was a good bit, you may have washed the cylinder walls which will lower compression and prevent it from starting.

Let's try something. Using starting fluid, see if it will start if you spray it into the throttle body. If it does and then stalls, we know it is a fuel-related issue. If there is no change, then I need you to check for an ignition spark at the plugs.

Here is a link that explains how to do that:

Let me know what you find. Also, if the fuel in the vehicle is two years old, that is likely the problem or contributing to the problem.

Take care,

joe
