The car listed above is a GT500. The car will not start. Fuel pumps are not kicking on and getting low dte fli error. Car turns over but will not start. We have changed fuel pumps and put fresh fuel. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

Have you checked to see if the fuel pump is getting power? Does the fuel gauge work? Do me a favor. At each fuel injector, there will be a red wire. With the key in the run position, check to see if there is power to a few of them.

I'm asking this because it is an easy way to determine if power is present for the pump.

Let me know

Joe

So easily check if it's a fuel issue you can spray some starting fluid into it, see if it runs for a few seconds, if it does it's still a fuel issue.

It’s definitely a fuel issue because the pumps are not kicking on to send fuel to the engine. The car has been sitting for a while. We put about 7 gallons of fuel in it. It went from 0 miles to E to 11 miles to E. The gauge is not really moving on the dash. The car will turn over but is not getting fuel to start. The car only has like 2k miles on it. We changed the pumps not too long ago and was running fine last time we started and moved it. This is the first time I have seen this error message on any of our cars this body style and we have several.

Where has the car been sitting? The DTE error could be damaged wiring as could the failure of the pump. Rodents love to chew wiring and it doesn't take them long to do a lot of damage. With the fuel pump module and the pump power feeds both close by it wouldn't take them long to chew the wires.
Check the injector power as well.

The car was sitting in our enclosed shop at our house with the rest of our collection which holds about 24 of our other cars.

Although it is enclosed, Steve makes a good point. I've stored vehicles inside and had mice make their way to the wiring.

Also, have you checked if there is power at the injectors?

Let us know.

Not yet and it will probably be a few weeks before we can. We were in the shop assessing it Sunday, but my husband is going to work and won’t be back for a few weeks. The car is under one of the lifts so I can’t use the hood prop so. One of us will have to hold the hood other to use the meter. All the wires look ok upon inspection. Car is like new and we put new pumps not too long ago.
