Temperature gauge not working

Thanks for your answer I was looking for a better one but will have it checked. I think it does work just maybe another problem I have no heat in the car so I know it isn't the gauge. Thanks so much

Ive got an 04 malibu that's blowing hot and the car temp gauge aint working but if I unplug the the neg side of the battery the air blows cold for a few hours then it does it again can someone please help me I got 4 kids and its way to home for them in that car and thats our only car can someone please help thank yal

(USER COMMENT) I had the same problem I changed the thermostat sensor and thermostat and it fixed the problem, with that being dais here are the instructions and diagrams son how to change out the thermostat and engine coolant sensor. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know what happens.
