This car in not driven a lot. The brake lite and the battery lites are on the engine will not accelerate above 1000RPM. Putting the car in park or neutral the engine will rev as it should. Why will the car not accelerat when in gear?

Obviously the first thing is to determine why the warning lights are on before something is damaged from trying to drive the car with a problem. Have the charging system tested. You have to be more specific with the "brake light". Do you mean the red warning light, the yellow ABS warning light, or the brake lights on the rear of the car? If it's the red "Brake" light, check the brake fluid level. If it is low, have the brake system inspected. The common suspects would be the front brake pads need to be replaced or there's a leak in the system. Also be sure the parking brake is fully releasing.

U may have a restricted exhaust sys. U will need to remove the O2 sensor in the exhaust sys. Then drive the car. Does any performance return? U also need to ck. The codes at the parts store.
