Had an issue with VTEC solenoid and went in limp mode on highway:
1. Cleaned the VTEC solenoid and screen filter.
2. Replaced oil and filter.
Ran perfectly for a week.

Pressure washed the car following week and started. Did well but the next day morning did not run, but keeps cranking.

So far:
- Replaced with new plugs - okay.
- Checked for spark - okay.
- Checked fuel pressure on rail - okay.
- Cleaned injectors and checked for continuity on the injector - okay.
- Replaced with new crank shaft position sensor - okay.
- Checked compression on cranking - all four cylinders 115-120 PSi (lower than expected of 135Psi).

Still no start. Please help what next to check.

Thanks.

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros.com.

If you have compression, spark, fuel, it has to run. You mentioned that you checked the injectors for continuity. Did you check if there is an injector pulse to fire them?

Here is a link which describes how to check for power to the injectors:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-test-a-fuel-injector

Also, can you tell me if the spark at the plugs is a hot blue snapping spark, or is it white or orange in color?

And yes, the compression is a little low, but it should run.

Just in case, here are the directions related to removal of the Vtec solenoid. Review them to make sure nothing was missed.

1. Disconnect the rocker arm oil control solenoid (VTEC solenoid valve) connector, rocker arm oil pressure switch (VTEC oil pressure switch), and the bolts (A).
2. Remove the cover (B) and the rocker arm oil control solenoid (VTEC solenoid valve) assembly (C).
3. Install the valve in the reverse order of removal with a new rocker arm oil control solenoid (VTEC solenoid valve) filter (D)

The attached picture correlates with these directions.

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.

Thanks,

Joe

Thanks Joe for the reply.
My car still does not start although it cranks.
Here is what I have done so far:

1. Replaced spark plugs with new ones and tested for sparks. I do see sparks, but not sure if it is blue on all four plugs.
2. Removed the fuel injectors and cleaned. They spray well and also checked for the fuel pressure just as you turn the key.
3. Cleaned all the connectors with electronic contact cleaner and put it back.
4. Checked all the fuses and are good.
5. Replaced the knock sensor.
6. Cleaned the V-Tec solenoid valve and put it back. Also cleaned the strainer/filter on it and an oil screen filter behind steering pump
Not sure what else to look for. Still cranks well, but does not start. Any help appreciated.
Thanks.

Does the engine run on starting fluid? Do you hear the pump come on in the tank? This will tell us it is a fuel or ignition issue.

Please let us know.
