My wife has a 4 cyl vtec in her automatic accord. It is slow to accel and when the ac is running I feel like I am dogging it by flooring it to get in front of traffic. What performance options do I have to get better performance from this motor or should I be looking to drop in a v6?

Neither of those things are going to be an option. You have a computer controlled system that cannot be modified. Your best bet is to just look for a different car that meets your needs more.
