I have a 2001 ford taurus with the DOHC in it and it sat for about 6 months before changing the fuel pump, once we changed the fuel pump and took it for a drive it ran really rough and they said the manifold was glowing red. What can this be? Please help?

Scan for codes and check intake vacuum. It may be a clogged converter or injector and engine is running lean and or a vacuum leak. If 15" or below suspect a clogged converter/exhaust, checked with a vacuum gauge.

We did give it a full tune up with spark plugs and wires and I found out that the converter itself was glowing not the manifold does that make a difference?

No the converter is usually the one that will glow. Scan for codes and check fuel pressure with a gauge.
