2001 Chevrolet Tahoe Car dies

My wife was driving up a hill and the truck got really sluggish on her. She had to hold the pedal to the floor to make it up the hill. A little bit later she tried to pass someone and the same thing happened. After about five more minutes of driving it died on her. We had the vehicle towed home and I checked to see if the fuel pump would turn on and it did. Tried starting it and it worked. A few days later I was driving thirty through town and it died on me. I put the truck in neutral and tried starting it and it started. Today I tried starting it to go to work and all it would do is crank and wouldn't fire. I came home for lunch had my wife turn the key to see if fuel pump would turn on it did and truck started. Help please.

Have you checked for spark yet when it doesnt start? Also have checked for codes in the computer?

Yes it has spark. No, I haven't had a computer hooked up to it yet. It died on me at noon when I was on my way hack to work after lunch when I had just driven it home thirty minutes prior. It started after about five minutes of sitting on the side of the road. After work it wouldn't start again. I had someone turn the key for me to see if I could hear the fuel pump I didn't hear it but they were cranking on it and it finally fired was a little sluggish at first but they pressed on the gas pedal and it started to run normally again. It ran the whole five minutes it took me to get home.

You can rent a fuel pressure gauge from auto zone and check the fuel pressure when it doesn't start.
