What would cause my suv to suddenly shut off while driving on the freeway? It was running fine. Now it won't start, but the radio and lights still work.

Are there any trouble lights ON? Like the service engine soon or the security light. Did you have any work done on it recently? Like on the fuel pump.

Nope, nope, and nope. Everything was fine, and then nothing. We were on the freeway, no weird noises or anything. It just shut off, but the radio and lights and such were still working. Then it wouldn't restart. When you turn the key it just makes like, a whining sound.

Does the engine turn over (crank) when you turn the key? Where does the whining sound seem to be coming from? Under the dash? Under the hood? Try to be specific as to the area the whining sound is coming from.

It does not turn over, and the whining sound seems to be coming from the dash.
