I have the same issue with my '02 Xterra, where the Security Light Indicator does not flash. BUT. The keyfob locks and unlocks the doors and the horn and lights flash when using the keyless entry feature.

I tried opening the door (thru an open window) with the alarm active. The horn did NOT sound.

What might the problem be?

Thanks

Is the security light staying off or lighted up steadily?

The security light would only start blinking 30 seconds after being locked. Does that occur?

Does using the panic button trigger the horns?

Did you try opening more than one door with system armed?

I also checked the panic button and it does in fact activate the horn. The key fob also locks and unlocks the door. The indicator light doesn't flash or light up at all.

I also tried unlocking the door with the key to see if the alarm goes off. Unfortunately it did not.

Unlocking the doors with key would disarm the security system.

Go through the charts and see if you can come up with anytgung.
