Over heat

Hello, I was driving in traffic with AC on, temp out was 99, going up a little hill car accident up ahead, AC stopped working and all of a sudden needle to temp was on high, no steam or water coming out, I waited for car to cool off I opened radiator it still had water, could it be I had AC in traffic with hill and hot out. Please tell me I didnt break my vehicle.

I bet the cooling fan was not working. Have it checked to be sure.

As I let it cool off, I was able to drive home and it didn't heat up again, but this time I didn't use the AC. Btw, I didn't mention that the radiator is at least 8 months old, brand new.
