When I turn on my air conditioner, my belt makes a squeeling noise and it lasts for about 10 seconds. I am wondering what I can do to fix this? And, if you may know what the problem is?

Sounds like a belt problem. It probably started out as just an adjustment problem but after all that slipping, the belt should be replaced.

Yes, it would need to be tighter.
