You're right - at my local place, there used to be at least 1-2 guys who knew their stuff and it was a huge help just to chat with them on auto stuff, but not this current group.

I feel like I'm getting a good spark, so like your spark test idea. The last guy had me hold for 30 sec, which I believe damaged my meter. I'll keep testing and let you know what I find.

To confirm, I went to another Advanced Auto for Battery, Alt & Starter check - all three were good.

Started checking drain with 10A setting and fried my meter again after checking about 8 fuses. I don't understand why this unit won't read 2A drain w/o going bad, but guess I should have just followed your spark test.

I was hoping to get additional confirmation by checking initial readings and only took a few secs (3-5) for the digital reading to appear, but the unit was heating up, so should have stopped holding the connection after initial spark.

I'll try to p/u another meter this week and finish testing the fuses - any recommendations on places to focus my search?
