My car cranks just fine the first time but when I go run an errand and crank it. It'll start like if it was dieing and I have to press the gas pedal down to get it to run good. Any thoughts or advise much appreciated!

I dont see how the timing being off would cause your symptoms. Who told you to check the timing? Also just because the lights not on doesnt mean there arent and codes.I always check for codes first.

Symptoms indicates a possible fault with the IAC. If no trouble codes are present, have the IAC and throttle body cleaned and retest.

Not the starter. If it is starter you would not be able to crank. Neither is it alterntor. You are having issues with the cold start and it could be due to valves too tight, head gasket problem, IAC, spark plugs, ignition coils, plug wires.

DO you have coolant losses issues and/or overheating?

Yes. Just make sure to mark number to each spark plug from where u take them off. Write one on da first spark plug n before u pull another off mark one one one on coil top to connect them in da same place u took them off

Though you have no overheating do you have coolant losses issues? You mentioned rectifying the overheating, what was done and how long ago was it?
Have you tested the fuel pressure?
