Having Tranny rebuilt again after only 11,000 miles. 1999 dodge Ram 1500 V8 5.9 liter 4x4. Moved out of state so a mechanic here in Monterey Ca. Is doing the work and gettin paid from previous installer in Colorado under his original warranty. That's a whole separate issue in itself. Question is, what can I do in my control to help preserve this rebuilt tranny. I'VE BEEN WORKING on engine performance issues to make sure the engine isn't causing malfunctions in the Tranny. Can you tell me anything to watch out for? Thanks, Mike. This guy doing the work isn't much help and is only giving me 50% quality based on his pay. Sounds like the torque converter was at fault which resulted in metal to metal failure of tranny.

Just keep it serviced. As far as the torque converter, I would go back to the person that rebuilt it origionally and have them pay the bill. When replacing the trans, the torque converter should be replaced.
