Can a motor blow up if some one puts milky way or snickers in the gas tank

I found out that some body put 3 or4 milky way candy bars and 2 snickers in my gas tank the car******* and sputtered ans then would not start when it died there was blue white smoke off the back side of the engine block and it smelled like something was burning did the candy bars make the motor blow up
