A bad coolant temp sensor can cause a code P0711 but not a tps code. What is the exact code number you have not code descriptions? Also can your scan tool read live data like the tips sensor?

It can cause high idle and hard shifting it could be the wires I really doubt its the sensor itself.I have seen very few go bad in all the years I have worked for Saturn.

The tips miss reading can cause a high idle the best way to diagnosed it is get a scan tool that can read live data like tps etc There like 50 or so on amazon. Or take it to a shop to diagnose. Your going to need tools like a multi meter scan tool that can read live data etc to diagnose it.

Catalytic converter also "plugged up" as well can cause high rev upon cold start-up. Also the CTS will cause the fan NOT to work. Any replies to this helpful. Thanks. Wink - DTM

I have never seen a plugged cat cause a high idle on cold start on Those cars.I have seen a lot plugged cats on Those cars. If the cat was plugged the most notable thing would be the lack of power.

Hers has "blow-by" really bad meaning with engine running, take oil cap off it just "blows"/ejects HOT air out of the oil cap hole, plus the pcv valve just rattles like a rattlesnake tail on top middle of the engine. Thats NOT good.

Yep, I would remove all of the spark plugs and do a compression test to see which cylinder is causing the problem.

Here is a guide.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-test-engine-compression

Please run this test and get back to us so we can continue helping you.

Cheers, Ken
