I have a 1997 Ford Ranger. It wasn't getting heat(gauge would'nt go past C )Changed the thermostat which was in pieces when I took it out. Truck still did not get warm, so I changed it again. Gauge is still on C and getting no heat. Any suggestions?225,000 Miles and running strong.

It is probably you coolant sensor how you explained it. You are saying that the gauge isn't moving from the C.

The sensor can cause the gauge not to read, but if the engine is warming up, you should get heat. Make sure there are no air block in the cooling system by bleeding it. Next, start the engine, let it warm up, and feel both heater core hoses. Both should get hot. If they are, check the blend door. It can be stuck and not allowing the heat to get into the vehicle. If only one heater core hose is hot and the other slughtly warm or cold, flush the heater core.
